I really try to understand whats going on in Greece. I am not troubled by what happened in Athens yesterday. To me such things are not really surprising. What I am currently wondering is how private profit oriented companies can judge the financial power of a country.
Or maybe the other way round how can you trust such companies and what are their judgements based on. I know there is a long list of criteria that they use, but I doubt the value of these lists. Greece has been like Greece is all the time, nevertheless last week something seemed to have happened in Greece, which is secret to everybody expect the rating agencies. What ever happened makes everybody believe that now (not a week ago) Greece is in a really bad situation. It is even worth: We do not believe this. The rating agencies believe it and for some reason important people believe in them. And so should we -- at least that is the plan it seems.
